I'm meeting Dad & my step Mum for lunch at their local pub, so I'l be having a chicken schnitzel or a fish & chips or a steak. I haven't decided yet, but either way I won't be having much for dinner
A country fried steak the size of a hub cap smothered in brown gravy, macaroni and cheese, cream corn, collard greens, cornbread, and sweet tea. I probably won't need to eat again til Monday. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Scary good! Yes, cream corn is made from maize kernals, "stomped" as you might say, and cooked with plenty of butter and cream added to them. Mmmmmmm........ Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Lunch with TCM. On Friday, after a busy morning of work, my girlfriend and I went to a local pub for an Irish Coffee (it was freezing) and "to split something" as we aren't big eaters and just wanted to "get out" (I work from home) and have a light bite. While I've been in this pub a few times, the three TVs they have are discreet (not big screen sports-bar stuff) and usually turned on to some or a few sporting event(s). Well, Friday, the TVs were on TCM and "Desirable," a solid Jean Muir pre-code, was playing. What a treat. It gave the old Irish pub - worn mahogany wood and polished brass everywhere - a very time travel feel as if we were watching the movie in a bar from the the '30s. It made for a very cozy and nice lunch. I don't remember ever seeing TCM on in a bar and, while not a barfly, I have been popping into bars for over 30 years.
Good afternoon, I just joined a couple of days ago and will be shopping for my first fedora soon. Just figured I'd post my lunch today. We stopped at Sonny's BBQ in Jacksonville, Florida. I had a beef brisket sandwich with several slices of Polish sausage on it. Very good, and definitely worth the stop if you're ever passing through Jacksonville. -Stephen Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Fried gulf shrimp, fried snapper filet, hush puppies, fried okra, green beans, 4 glasses of sweet tea, and a slice of cherry cheesecake. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Late lunch of half a piece of Boston Cream pie from a local diner, but the best half - the back part with the thick icing; washed down with a Coke. Now, since I work for myself from home, I'm knocking off (started work - I kid you not - at 4am) and am going to meet my girlfriend for a drink at our local pub. Thinking Irish Coffee as it's pretty cold out.
