Maltese Falcon - an interesting item

Here's an interesting item on The Maltese Falcon. It mentions that "The sculptor who created the legendary statuette of the black bird for the 1941 Humphrey Bogart movie may have been an accomplice of the Black Dahlia murderer and the killer of author James Ellroy's mother."

I'm sorry I don't have any more detail than that. Perhaps one of you Loungers can add more.
