Hello to all here in The Fedora Lounge.
Would just like to say a quick hello and present myself to the group, if I may.
My name's Kevin, user RktSciGuy (rOCkEt sciENTIST guy), I currently live near Toulouse in the sunny south of France, where I work as a Mechanical Tech for a leading satellite manufacturer (the ones in orbit, not those attached to your house...). I come from sunny (?) Stevenage in Herts England.
I guess I've always been interested in the clothing, objects, and lifestyle of the 30s through the 60's. I have loads of photos (that I'd like to share once I've made my 15 postings) of my family and their friends from the same period, and this has inspired me lately to come out of my shell and finally do something about it. It'a starting with my hair (the easiest and cheapest of all the items) - I've started growing it out on top and am trying for a 40s style, shaved at the back and sides, then nicely slicked on top with some Brylcreem in a small Pompadour.
I'm now looking to buy some 40's or 50's pants - like the 'Sid' pants on RevampVintage.com, though I don't have a great deal to spend on this sort of luxury  ... so at the same time am looking for patterns for said trousers, 'cause I'm not bad with my great grandmothers old Singer sewing machine (1904 - still got the receipts!!)
Anyway, I look forward to chatting with y'all in the near future...
Love the hats by the way! :fedora:
Ciao
