The jacket will be warm if you order it with an alpaca lining and with a woollen sweater underneath it will be suitable for temperatures below zero But it will never be as warm as a down jacket or a heavy peacoat. The insulation coefficient of bare leather is ****!!!

How about alpaca plus rayon?

Why that? Alpaca is so nice, why cover it? It's soft, itchless and feels very luxurious. Don't know if Aero would use that as a sleeve lining. Normally it's Alpaca body and cotton drill sleeves. Best thing is to give them a bell and ask Amanda or Will everything you want to know. They know what makes sense and what doesn't. As far as I know Will still has some square feet of very thick and warm Alpaca somewhere. I think it's also darker in colour than the standard alpaca weave. It was mentioned here on the forum a while ago. If you do a search you'll find the post.

I just thought it would be warmer with both and still not be too thick,
and be easier to get in and out of.
I just dont know enough about this stuff. This is why I ask

Hi Sierra, great looking coat...I do have a request: can you take a photo from the front with the jacket buttoned? You don't need to button the top button at the collar, just the 3 primary ones.

Also, IIRC you have a superb-looking half-belt as well, how do you decide which of these 2 beauties to wear on a given day?

I'm trying to upload a photo of the coat buttoned but I cant't do it tonigth...a trouble in Photobucket, I believe...I will try again tomorrow

But I can say you that I never button the top button. The primary ones, many times in winter. My jacket choose depends on weather, of course. The Cheyenne coat is only for winter but the halfbelt works fine in any season if the weather is not extreme. If you take a walk in a cold morning, Cheyenne is perfect but, if you want drive your car, halfbelt is better.

How much room do you have when you have buttoned the jacket as in your photo, and you pull the front of it forward? Mine is VERY roomy, and have gone back and forth whether to have Aero either take it in or rebuild a size down...

The fit of your Cheyenne looks a little bit loser then the one for Jan. I wonder why? Is that because it has been slightly modified to be slightly waisted and is a inch shorter?

I think it depends what you specify to Aero.
I specified that mine would mostly be worn with just a t-shirt under and with a sweater only during the coldest days.
I also specified trim fitting.

It might not work as snug with longer length either that could be right.
