If it were a homburg, it would be a very rare flat-rolled brim homburg (a "banker's hat"). It doesn't have a homburg bash at all. I've never seen a homburg with a teardrop crown.

I think you have it right. I've seen a few of those. Side dents make a homburg look completely different.
I have seen several in movies as well.

Yep, that's a homburg with a typically fedora crown. You just don't know how hard those dents are to get out until you try.
