That would be my (inexpert) opinion too. As well as the extra pocket detail being off-spec for a G1 type, the pockets look to be stud fastened, rather than buttons.

Great looking jacket nonetheless. Civilian manufacture would certainly help to explain the size, though back in those days military guys were definitely smaller than the average man nowadays. Even with modern military surplus, I'm often shocked at how much smaller I'd have to be to fit into it (over the shoulders too - this is a size rather than fitness issue! ).
