Navigating Luggage Dilemmas: Tips and Advice Needed

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a bit of a luggage dilemma and could use some advice.

I'm planning a trip, and I'm torn between investing in a sturdy hardshell suitcase or opting for a more versatile and lightweight soft-sided one.

On one hand, I love the durability and protection that hardshell luggage provides, especially for fragile items.

On the other hand, soft-sided luggage seems more flexible and easier to squeeze into tight spaces.

Do any seasoned travelers have recommendations or personal experiences to share?

What factors do you consider when choosing luggage? Any tips for navigating this decision would be greatly appreciated!

What fragile items have you bought in the past? In my experience, people rarely ever buy anything fragile when traveled.

I see either one likes to use a roller or a non-roller luggage. A non-roller luggage is usually a duffle bag, for ease of fitting it into tight space and bypassing dimension requirements of airline. Leather or Filson’s canvas lasts longer. Roller luggage is usually a hardshell suitcase. To get the best of both worlds, you can also get a duffle bag with a roller, which is what I’d suggest getting. Check out Brooks Brothers Rolling Duffle, for example.
