Have any of you fedora collectors ever heard of the brand name of "Barcellino"? Take note, this is NOT Borsalino which we are all familiar with, but "BARCELLINO". Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks fedoralover

Rich,

I was curious also so I called Optimo Hat Company of Chicago and spoke with Graham . He said over the years alot of Co's tried to knock off Borsalino hats with a play on words/names. Like Sterling beaver etc. As far as he new it was a cheap fur felt hat and to stay away from it!!

Roger

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. Now for confession time, I did buy one off ebay, but only paid $13.25 for it. It is a black homburg with a fairly wide brim. It wasn't in the best of shape but I figured I'd take off the bound edge and use it for a work hat. I have no black hats to wear to work. At such a cheap price I figured it was worth a gamble for a work hat. Here it is, feel free to slam it as I know it isn't the best.

Looks like an interesting hat to me and a great price. I think that if it is old that a knock off can also be thought of as a piece of history, much the same as a cheap depression working mans hat. I would hesistate to mess with the brim unless you don't like the way it looks on you. As long as it is a fur and not wool felt I think you got a deal!
