the GB says it has a leather sole where the Brentano says it has a double leather sole. Is there any difference? or does the Brentano actually have a thicker sole.

I couldn't find any info on Brentano shoes anywhere... might be a house brand. You might want to email that place and ask how the soles compare.

MJ: Those leather/linen pull-up wingtips look great. That may be a good idea for a summer shoe.

Matt Jones had sent a link about the Leather Classics Men's Dress Wing Tip in a linen & leather. Does anyone know if there are there any other purveyors of such shoes? Just curious, as I like keeping various avenues of options open. Thans for any input folks.

perhaps this vendor's been discussed (and dismissed?) in other threads, but www.stacyadams.com has quite a few dapper styles, in the lower $ range. and i recently saw a pair of Cole-Haan herringbone wool and leather cap-toes that made me weep, i think it was on this site.

I'd be interested in any experience any of you have had with brentano as well, they have a cap-toe shoe on their that looks pretty nice:
