Hi, my latest item in the classifieds was also deleted despite having more than 20 posts in other forums?
If you click on your name and then the Messages number you will be able to see how many messages you’ve posted, what they were and also which forum of the FL they were made in and when.
So, to date you’ve made 28 posts and of these 21 were in the Classifieds and just 7 were in the open forums.

Thanks for clarifying! Didn't realise

Because we have more than a few members who have not posted heavily but have nevertheless been members for a fairly long period of time, we feel compelled to tweak the rule a little.

With an uptick in new members who are here either to just sell things or to relieve other members of their cash without supplying the goods, we will remove any classified post by anyone who hasn't taken the time to get to know the forum and all it offers. You'll need 20 posts at a minimum, or have been a registered member for at least two years, to participate in the classified forum as a seller from here on out.

We're getting a lot of posts in classifieds reported for fewer than 20 posts in the open forum but who have been here awhile and have been members generally playing by the rules. It's making a lot of busy work for our volunteer moderators.

Thank you.

I do realise how much extra work there must be for the moderators these past months. The seemingly endless discussions in this thread alone leave me speechless time and again.

The new rule is exactly what seems to be needed: to make the classifields an annex to the discussion forums again.

It’s obvious that this wI’ll create even more work on your part and also the need to make measured decisions.
Thank you for going the extra mile for all of us. I am sure it will turn out to be fruitful.

A question to the moderators:
If a member posts 20 posts in the open forums within 60 mins, posts that seem meaningful (thus no "cool jacket", "nice boots") and then starts offloading his items for sale. Is this allowed?

I've had 2 recent classified removed for this apparent rule, yet my profile says I have over 72 messages? I'm sure many of these messages are posts in my own classifieds but I can't seem to find a way to see how many forum messages I have contributed. My gut tells me it's still over 20 given the time I've been a member. It's also strange that I've sold multiple items on here without issue up until this point, but I'm guessing this must be a new rule enforcement given the date of this thread?!

Also there are 'members' here that might be registered longer than two years with zero posts; and guess what: first post and it is an ad
There is also the member who had taken over 2 1/2 years to make 28 posts (21 in the Classifieds and only 7 in the open forums)
Then, after having a selling post very recently deleted they managed to rack up 15 more posts in just 4 days, with their 15th one miraculously being one for selling a whole load of items in the Classifieds.

Lately I've seen members making 20 posts in 30 minutes. And not posts like "cool", "wow" and "nice". And then guess what their 21st post is.
"I also have a jacket like this and it is fantastic! I had to exchange the size as the 42 was too small, but the 44 is perfect fit".

"What do you guys think about Obscure Japan Brand? It's a new, emerging brand that carries Shinki and I'm tempted by their stuff".

"These are my PNW boots I've just got resoled. I've asked my cobbler to put this Vibram lug sole because I was looking to have more traction".

"How is my fit looking?".
"Thanks, I was worried the untucked shirt would look bad".
"Do you think it would look better wearing jeans instead of chinos?".

"FS: The jacket from the fit pics".
"FS: Newly resoled boots".

Not explicit examples, just wrote it in the same spirit of some subtle yet obvious ones I've been seeing. 20 messages is light work and it takes very low effort to very easily mask them.

Very first world problems, but to me it is just unpleasant seeing people who are obviously interacting for ulterior reasons. I far prefer the ones that show up with help requests and then disappear ("Doubting between this jacket and this other, which do you recommend?"), at least they are genuine, actually need help and we end up anyway with valuable content from the rest of the Loungers.

Me too, in fact, I fondly remember some of the members who were here quite briefly while researching a jacket purchase and once that purchase had been completed successfully, they faded away forever.

One solution, which others have suggested, would be to increase the qualifying post count substantially.
If it was somewhere over say 250, or even higher, it might deter the chancers who are just taking advantage of the forum to sell in the free Classifieds.
Of course, this might inconvenience a genuine contributing member but there are plenty of other places, online or otherwise, to sell their occasional item until they reach the ‘magic’ number of required messages.
Also, having a high post count qualifier might make it easier for the moderators as the current 2 year membership period could be dispensed with.

The above question still stands valid (and unanswered). I see more members posting 20+ posts within an hour, posts other than "cool", "wow", etc. And then bingo, an ad. Is this allowed?

So now this has changed after deleting multiple of my ads? great...well I think this is a bit more balanced but why not listen to the people voicing concerns sooner?
