Penguin Books are to publish the unedited first draft of Jack Kerouac's classic On The Road. The US hardback edition is due on 16th August, while the UK hardback edition is due on 6th September, 50 years - almost exactly to the day - after the New York Times gave the book a lengthy, and very positive review which, overnight, catapulted Kerouac into the mainstream. The reviewer, Gilbert Millstein, called it '...the most beautifully executed, the clearest and the most important utterance yet made by the generation Kerouac himself named years ago as "beat", and whose principal avatar he is.'

I can't wait. This is one of my favorite books. I must have read it about 5 times. It's also one of the reasons I'm in LA right now. It made me want to travel and see everything.
