That Borsalino is a gem. Hard to get better than that.

Good evening gentlemen, here I have an item of interest at auction: a Stephen L. Stetson fedora. It seems to be in nice condition and I’ve never seen any hats from them before. It also looks to be quite old.

I did research and discovered the history and background of the company, but did not encounter conclusive comments on the quality or value of their hats. I saw a couple threads on the Lounge which referenced a guide thread back in 2009, but I couldn’t access it. If any of you have knowledge about this hat, I’ll be glad to have your input.
Respectfully,
Brian

That’s a beauty!

A defeat.

Wasn't feeling too well on Sunday so laid down "for a minute" ... three hours later I had missed the ends of these auctions and, of course, lost out.

This Stetson Select Quality sold for $18. Size 7.

This pair (in a pile of ladies floppy straw hats) sold for $14. No sizes known.

I probably would have also taken this one:

I hope someone here ended up with them.

Oh dear.. I hate when that happens.

I have it on good authority the Select Quality will end up in good hands ;)

That second grouping though…. Oh my!

I’d call this a victory. A $42 bid won this 1900-1915 Stetson. The size was not listed and I figured it would be the usual 6-7/8 to 7-1/8, but it turned out to be a seldom seen 7-1/2! Woot!

As arrived. I haven’t steamed it or done any cleaning.

The 6 3/4 beaver brown/green Stephen L. Stetson has arrived! I purchased it at auction for $30 on Invaluable a few weeks ago. The sweatband is smooth and supple, while the felt is quite light and crushable and is in great shape. It is a bit dusty so I’ll brush it off in a moment. It fits my stepdad perfectly as hoped.
