I just read Dean Mora's latest email/newsletter and this line popped out at me:

...visiting with legendary pianist Peter Mintun (at his turn-of-the-century brownstone townhouse, replete with musical instruments, phonograph machines, and scads of Art Deco-era ephemera.)

So I hopped over to Mintun's Myspace site and was shocked I had not heard of him until now. He really seems like one of us!

Through Amazon.com I ordered one of his CDs that features all music from the late 20's, 30's and 40's.

Anyone else hear him play, have CDs, or other information?

Heard him play, met him too. Swell guy and quite the record collector as well. He knew John Green, the composer-arranger-conductor, and took care of his music library (and I believe still does!)

Did you know he got his start playing and writing for hippie drag revues in San Fran? They (the drag community that is) were crucial in getting 30s music and culture back into circulation.
