I didn't know either...
I feel better now. I don't mix in circles where boxing has ever come up. As Edward says, if you're not into sport or other parts of popular culture, most of the world's celebrities remain anonymous nobodies.
I didn't know who Piers Morgan was until 2018. I was so blessed - there are some people who wouldn't believe that you'd never heard of them - but I really had no idea. Or Katie Price. I didn't know who Kanye West was, either, but Leonard Cohen seems to have hit the nail on the head with his poem:
Kanye West is not Picasso
I am Picasso
Kanye West is not Edison
I am Edison
I am Tesla
Jay-Z is not the Dylan of Anything
I am the Dylan of anything
I am the Kanye West of Kanye West
The Kanye West
Of the great bogus shift of bullshit culture
From one boutique to another
I am Tesla
I am his coil
The coil that made electricity soft as a bed
I am the Kanye West Kanye West thinks he is
When he shoves your ass off the stage
I am the real Kanye West
I don’t get around much anymore
I never have
I only come alive after a war
And we have not had it yet
Slightly getting off topic here, but this reminds me that Leonard Cohen never missed a chance to drop names. I particularly like this reference:
I said to Hank Williams how lonely does it get?
Hank Williams hasn't answered yet
But I hear him coughing all night long
A hundred floors above me in the tower of song.
Which 99% of them are. Good for preening on red carpets, is about it.
I have never seen a jacket with these toggles, i really like it!
I thought this might have been an original WW2 issue at first, but then I noticed it has no pockets. Possibly a post-war commercial rerun of a D1, pockets omitted to keep down the price?
Interestingly, it looks like thereshould have been a zip, but I can't quite tell from the photo whether it has been sewn up just without thezip and these toggles added, or if they were a later addition to replace a broken zipper that was removed. It's the sort of thing I could see being done as a fix by someone with access to the right tools and who thought "Ain't no zip going to fail me again on this jacket!"
The next big thing???
JL is killing it these days!
Looks very cool, what is it exactly?
JL’s IG account states the jacket is their take on a vtg Cal. Looks more like an original LL to me. Either way, totally awesome. Burgundy and black overdye Horween HH.
Don't think I've seen a leather Harrington before - works muchbetter than I'd have thought.I would be keen on the Harrington type collar on a cafe racer!
I need this in my life.
Maybe. O'Connell's in Buffalo have sold a French goat Baracuta style for a few years.
last time I had an idea to put on twist lock on my jacket, but here I got some comments about how it was not a good idea.... now this made me think what if....
This jacket is on my wishlist for the next winter ;-)
I'm considering having them customized for me.
I live just a few miles from them. Its an interesting store to be sure. I sometimes get odd stares from the employees there. In my 15oz jeans, black work boots, vintage band shirt and classic black leather jackets. I think they think Im going to steal something. But in reality its like no no, it takes hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars to get this look. Ill be one of your biggest spenders haha.
