Yes, I remember the thread. Those I think were more like extravagant, frilly type things. The ones I'm thinking of are much simpler, more like regular ties that happen to have a few small pleats, vertically (as in the pink example below), horizontally, or at an angle.

This is the only one I own so far. I don't love the stitching. But I'll wear it. Needs a cleaning. I'm on a mission to find a better one.

Never seen one I liked, but hey, no accounting for taste. They're certainly snazzier than those cowboy-edge-stitched numbers. Those should all have a silkscreen of Roy Rogers and be worn by 6-year-old boys on their way to church.

Pleated NeckTie, styled by Currie

I searched the resources on the www, asked in a few places and was told numerous times that it looks like a 1960's tie. I tried to search the CanadaPatent site using the #'s on the tie, no luck, didn't like the #'s. [huh]

I did find a patent by Currie for necktie/cravate, however, I could not get any images from the image link.

THEN, I got for my b'd, 3 books on vintage ties. There was a pleated tie (said it was unusual) in the 40's section. Do any of you know for 'semi=sure' if this could be 40's?

The overall length of the tie is 52", the blade width is 4"

I'd say that it's '40s or '50s. I'd like to get a second opinion from someone else here, though.

i know Marc says they only appeared after 1950 but the construction of yours on the rear side looks very late 20s/early 30s. i wouldn't be surprised if the 50s ones had an art deco predecessor.

I found a gorgeous pink pleated tie upstairs in my attic recently. Nice to see something about them here... I'll try to take some pics of it in the next couple of days. I may or may not be offering it for sale in the near future.

I personally think they look kindof neat, but am not fond of the patterned ones. Patterned ones are too busy, but the pleats can add some interesting and unusual detail to a solid-colored tie or one with fewer details:

A curious style, like the infamous ***mervest here, but one I also agree died a rightful death. A silk knit is king if I want something different from the norm.
