A fall bump for this thread... about thirty years pre-1940.
Wow! Great hat in great condition!
Yup, still my favorite!
I had shared these in their respective designated threads, but they also fit nicely here. Acquired within about a week of each other, a Stetson Real Nutria quality and Standard quality.
"Bellona", 58 cm, Back Bow, Wool, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 3/4 inches, possibly later 1920s.
This could be a Sheep surrounded by an "F" and a "S" so possibly Friedrich W. Schneider Köln.
Mayser "Stella Steif Federlicht / Stiff Feather Light" made for Huthase / Hat Hare, 58cm, 155 grams, possible 1930s.
J. Hückel ´s Söhne "Alpha" "Seal Velour", French Point Size 5, Brim 2 1/4 inches, Crown Open 6 inches possibly mid 1930s.
That is one thick and zesty felt, Steve... it looks like sealskin through and through.
Alan, Thank you! Also Thanks for bumping this thread with your beautiful Hawes "Supreme Quality"!
Lord let me survive envy
I've been mesmerized by that bow... it has an MC Escher quality where it is almost impossible to tell what is on top of what. Marvelous - perhaps one to share (a close-up please!) on the Bows take a Bow thread.
Daniele, Thank you!
Alan, Thanks! I will take a close up photo today.
Spectacular! The dimensions are commanding, and I even like the back bow; something that I don’t normally care for.
