Recently I've purchased a pair of shoes which have a white wax build up that is visible in these pics. I asked the salesman about the wax and he seemed puzzled, but said that it was some sort of "antiquing" application.

Does anyone know how to safely move this?

BTW... Sorry about the extraneous stuff in my pics. My Photobucket account is "antique".

It's typically just wax from inside the leather that has leeched out to the surface. Take a shoe brush and buff it well. Some of the wax will come off on the brush and as the leather warms up some will reabsorb into the hide.

I have a pair of Alden shell cordovan shoes that bleeds off a white residue from time to time, and I simply use a horsehair brush to get rid of the problem as pawineguy above just said.

Wore my Aero cordovan Highwayman for the first time in a long time last week. It had the same presentation. I just wiped the residue off. No problem.
