San Antonio "Tangerine"

I was in San Antonio for a conference last week, and I decided to pop into Penner's. I left with two pairs of shoes; one of which was a pair of tangerine captoes. As the story goes: (http://www.sacurrent.com/printStory.asp?id=59713) a customer requested a pair of Stacy Adams shoes in a distinct shade of orange. At the time Stacy Adams produced custom color shoes, and the color (dubbed tangerine) caught on with San Antonio pachucos. After Stacy Adams Discontinued their custom colors, Penner's started having the shoes made for them.

. . . also, despite being 'knock-offs,' I found these shoes superior to modern stacy adams. The sturdy high shine leather and construction is similar to vintage Stacy's.

Those are really sharp. You might have them order you an extra pair of laces. That color looks like it'll be a hard one to fine.

That was my first thought. Hecho en Mexico. The 40s/early50s aesthetic is also still there ...nice!

Great shoes! Penner's is a great store with great service--if you want it and they don't have it, they will get it! And, they open the back door early any day if they know you are coming by to pick something up.

That's an interesting colour. You would have to be a real spiv to wear them, and I ain't one. lol
