Seattle Opera's Porgy and Bess

We went Saturday night (opening night).
Probably a bit under 10% of the men were in dinner jackets.
I was probably the youngest guy there (mid-50's) in a dinner jacket, though there were a lot of younger men.
And as we were leaving, I didn't see any of the other dinner-jacketed men with hats (let alone an Homburg)

By the way - the opera was very good, but a few of the set changes were a bit long. But it was opening night ...

Out of curiosity - what percentage of dinner jackets would you expect for an opera opening night in New York?

I've never been to an opera opening night at the Met, but on all the other several times I've been there, I don't recall ever seeing one.
On the other hand, if you're talking about the season opener, or a gala, I'd expect close to 100% black tie.
Edit: Let me amend that. I'd expect to see maybe 90% in the orchestra section, and the expensive boxes, but with a lower percentage in the cheaper seats.
