If this hasn’t already been done, and something like this probably has, here’s an Olin Mills pic of me at age twenty two wearing an eighties Stetson. I’ve worn fedoras and some derby’s back when neither were considered cool.

It would also be great if you might include a current photo of you in the same pose and close representative of the original hat, if you can.
    Could be fun!

I’m afraid I can no longer pull off a pink tux shirt and wore out the Stetson long ago, so this white Oxford and very close to original gray Lee brand fedora will have to do.
The hat does a better job of looking like the original photo than I do.

  2. Great idea for a thread Randall. Your recreation pic looks a bit like the before photo of a floor repair though.

Early 1980s. This was my Grandfather's hat.

Same hat. Worse for wear (and that goes for both of us).

Thanks, Bob! Sorry, don’t know how that happened. Great pics on your part, though!
And still have the same hat too? Priceless!
Here’s the pic meant to be in the opener...

I was already an avid hat collector as a teen. These are from 1968-69, part of a series of pics I did with my dad for use in an eighth grade oral report about hats.

My first fur felt was a Beaver Brand from Schaffs. Purchased new in 1972 for $16. I no longer have it, but recently acquired one of the same vintage. I still have the FFA jacket though. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I wouldn't have believed it! A young Max, wearing a cowboy hat, and surrounded by liquor!

  9. I like the current hat better. Diggin' the FFA jacket as well! I always thought the owl, plow and sun would make a cool tattoo.

Does a tricorner hat count? Here I am with my grandmother helping to celebrate my town's tercentenary. I was two months shy of three years old.

Mine may have been wool, but Pop was rockin’ the fedora with the Woolrich.
