The decline in hat wear coincided with the proliferation of the automobile as a means of transportation. There was a minor resurgence since the 80s marked by the release of the Indiana Jones films as well as the rise of the hip-hop culture, of which fashion was one of its key elements. Run-DMC was pivotal to this movement with fedoras becoming part of their signature look.
