The last chapter concerns the "Unpublished"

I like most of them. Thank goodness only a few were my size. The blue ones really do stand out: gorgeous.

I've been keeping a list of the hats I bought in 2022, but have been scared to count them. This thread gave me the motivation and the body-count is 114 hats since about March of 2022 when I decided it would be nice to replace a couple of fedoras I bought back in the early 90's that I later lost and missed a lot. That bright idea opened the floodgates. Dangerous when you have an addictive personality anyway. Some will get sorted out and resold or given away

So every hat I've posted about was bought in 2022 and virtually all those I'm going to post about any time soon were also bought then.

I still haven't worked up the nerve to total the cost of all these hats and hat boxes. About a month or so into my hat-buying, a friend joked that she was cutting me off at 20 hats, and I thought to myself, "Who in their right mind would think I'd be so crazy as to buy 20 hats, for Christ's sake?!!"

I know, right? Stopping at 20 is just crazy pants!

Okay, back in Japan and I’ve finally got around to checking my hats from last year. At seven new hats, I’m down three on last year’s hall. What’s more, I got rid of three or four that I didn’t enjoy wearing.
Here we go.
Two straw hats, both palm leaf and purchased together from the Village Hat Shop. Sunbody Teardrop on the left and Tula on the right. The Tula is sporting a pug that I intended to put on the Sunbody, but when the hats arrived, I thought the ribbon on the Tula looked cheap and nasty, so the pug went to the Tula.

2022 saw me get my first nutria felt hats - first a black (blackest of blacks)Tirard Ragondia (ie nutria), certainly one of my top two purchases of the year. I have Stefan @steur to thank for this one. Then a Lagomarsino in a much darker, camel colour than the photo shows.

The only new new felt hat I purchased was this Akubra Stylemaster in acorn fawn, also not caught particularly well in the photo. This hat looked after my head under the harsh New Zealand sun.

2022 also saw me get my first felted edge, with this Knox Flying Cloud. I’ve found the light grey felt with a slight green tinge more difficult to wear than I had expected, but enjoy wearing this hat when I can.

Finally, I think the champion of my 2022 hats has to be this dark, dark navy blue Dobbs Homburg with purple ribbon and binding, that came to me from Brent @deadlyhandsome. Thanks again Brent.

I'm showing some minor brand hats bought in 2022. #1 Style-Rite Royal Beaver 20. 2 1/2 inch felted brim. Great soft felt. A Lounge member named rik posted a hat just like this, except brown, about 10 or 12 years ago.

#3 Linpark. 2 1/2 inch brim. Felt is very thin and soft. Reminds me of Borsalino.

#5 Master Craftsmen. I'm assuming this is the same outfit you see on Champ hats sweatbands where it says Felted by Master Craftsmen. The seller claimed this was a custom made hat. Has nice felt
