Where to get spectators
Hey Bugsy,
I have had good luck with finding several pairs of two-tone Allen Edmonds by shopping their online store, as well as by dillegently searching ebay. Look for "Broadstreet" and "Belmont" models. I have four pairs and have yet to pay over $120.00. Sometimes much less.

Hahaha! I've had them for about 10 years now and I'm so scared they will give out one of these days - they are a perfect fit and they are actually really comfortable, I don't know what i would do without them!

Basalti Monk Straps
The brand is Basalti, they are made in Japan. I purchased these when I went to Isetan. Which has definitely got to be one of the best shopping experiences for me in the world. I was a little overwhelmed when I went to Isetan, firstly I had to convert everything over to Australian dollars, then I had to think about how much money I had on me and then I was confronted with too much selection. In the end I think I just grabbed the first thing I saw that fit.
Madras Ghillies with tongue (what do you call these?)
Aquascutum Captoe Bals.
In Japan it would appear that you can purchase almost every conceivable brand that the world has to offer. I would say that most of the names are licensed out to other manufacturers. But it still great to be able to buy this stuff as you feel that you are buying into the brand.
Scotch grain by Hirokawa
This is one of my favourite shoe companies in Japan notwithstanding Regal shoes. Unfortunately I didnt buy any Regals. I held up on the purchase at the time and then didn't have the opportunity before I left. One of my many regrets in life.

Italian Brands.
Every body seem to love Italian shoes, I think there is a certain romantic notion with clothing from Italy.
I do appreciate Italian shoes, particularly well made ones, but I think sometimes the styling can be off.
Here are some tamer shoes I were able to find downunder.
Mario Fagni.
De Tomasso.
These were an interesting find. This company specialises in Norwegian and other welted shoes. The wingtip brogues are very different shoes now to when I first purchased them. The welt was a light colour with vary visible stitching and the shoes were laced with coarse rope-like material bound with leather wraps. It just wasn't my style so I modified the look.
The black wholecuts are well constructed shoes made of a nice supple leather, unfortunately they wrinkle badly as I cant seem to find a decent fitting shoe tree for them. They look alot better on my foot than in the shoe trees.
Varesotto
This is another italian maker similar to De Tomasso but I would rate them slightly further down the tier. They have alot of norwegian shoes, which I plan on purchasing one day. However this captoe brogue is blake stitched.
Once again the welt, sole and overall colour of the shoe was not to my liking. So I applied heavy doses of dye, shoe cream and wax. Looks alot better IMO.
Unfortunately the pictures don't do the antiqued toe box any justice.

This is the house brand from Department Store David Jones. These aren't anything special, another example of having the desire to purchase a shoe but not haven't anything in the shop decent to purchase. One of the most remarkable things about these suede loafers are that they weren't always this colour. I changed them from sand to the present colour with some waproo suede/nubuck dye.

I think the english make some of the nicest shoes. They can make some pretty fashion forward shoes but they also make some pretty damn tasteful shoes as well.

These are from my grandfather. What you see here is true antiquing, none of that acetone/blah blah blah. They have held up well over time so quite pleased with them.
Sanders for Jpress
When I first ordered them off the jpress website I thought the toe looked rather chiselled, and that convinced me to purchase them. Unfortunately its just too similar to my barkers. I found out that if you purchase the sanders shoes off pediwear you actually end up saving a few quid as opposed from Jpress. I actually would like someone to tell me if the press model is made of better leather than the sanders model as I wouldnt like to think they are identical. Oh well if not, Im a trad sycophant so I dont mind paying for that Jpress stamp inside the sock.
Cheaney for Herringbone
I purchased these from one of the most overpriced mens clothing stores in Australia, Herringbone. Its nice shop, a great concept and they do have some nice items occasionally, but there pricing is ridiculous. These dont appear to correspond with any model from Cheaney so must be a custom job.
Hampton Shoe Company
I have little or no idea about this shoe company other than the fact that it is from my Grandfather. He purchased from them from Buckley and Nunn which was an iconic Australian Luxury brand department store that closed I think during the 80s. The shoes are probably from a now defunct northampton shoe manufacturer. I think these shoes demonstrate the longevity of a good shoe. The styling is still modern, the construction is great.
Country Road
These aren't english shoes, but they didn't fit anywhere else.
Country Road is one store that continually vexes me. Sometimes they can have a great product like a suit, shirt or tie, but unfortunately they can't be consistent with offering the same products after one season. These shoes aren't edward green, nor loake for that matter but they aren't that bad. They are goodyear welted and made in India. Perhaps they are made by Florsheims indian manufacturer I do not know, but I was lucky enough to get one before they discontinued with the welted shoes. It would appear that Country Road are now making all their shoes in china and they are cemented pixie like loafers in corrected grain leather.
