These were part of suits at one time but have since been orphaned. Both are from a single Goodwill.

Early '30s black jacket with interesting herringbone/chalk stripe pattern. NRA union tag.

1940s flannel jacket. Unfortunately it has a big hole in the back. It fits me too. :(

New Bill Blass Suit

I just received this new 40 Long Bill Blass 3-piece suit from an acquaintance whos husband passed away some time ago and she was cleaning out closets. I don't know what the material is but it is a material I've not seen before. The fit is perfect, especially with the vest where it is snug but not too tight.

The shoes are a size 10 Stuart McGuire and were received from the same person along with 3 other pairs of shoes. These are mint and from the sole appear to be 60s-70s vintage. Not sure though. Any thoughts on the suit and shoes would be appreciated.

Here is my late 1930's to the 40's HSM suit. Had it for over a month now but just go the pictures from my brothers Bar Mitzvah. Won it on eBay. The only alteration I made was havng it taken in at the waist. The tie is modern and my fathers, the shoes are some old but not vintage Johnson and Murphy cordovan Captoes. Skinny Belt from MyBabyJo, some vintage 30's suspenders on the way. The pocket square was my great grandfathers. I unfortunately forgot my 21 Club tie clip, Next time I guess.
Ran out of time to get it pressed correctly because I only got it the day before!

Great looking suit, Gittes. And hair!

Those photos look straight from the '40s, especially the first.

I agree! Excellent look and something about the first picture makes it look right out of another time!

Excuse the extremely contemporary background. I need to get some outdoor shots. Not exactly a vintage suit, but custom tailored with my best attempts toward it:

Here's me wearing my fave suit, I was meeting up with a friend alongside one of her friends for the first time and she suggested that we dress up!. So before I left I took these.

I've always thought that single breasted suits with peaked lapels were a bit goofy - like suits that couldn't really decide what they wanted to be. That said, I must also admit that I like them. Here's one in an unusual green pinstripe that I picked up a couple of weeks ago at the thrift store for ten bucks and just got back from the cleaners. It's in almost unworn condition and fit me perfectly without any alterations. The sharply raked jacket pockets and the flat front front trousers with a fairly snug fit in the thighs would prolly date it in the 70s, yes?

Is it cool or just plain goofy? I dunno, but I'm gonna wear it anyway.

'70s or not (I'd say '70s), it's a classic looking suit. Two thumbs up for SBPL.

It's not wild and crazy '70s, either. Everything seems to be well proportioned.

I think it looks just fine to me and that is really saying something coming from a guy who absolutely hates the 70s. ;) :p
