I can't be sure by the picture, but while it is rare, I have seen women ski in skirts. Women started out skiing in skirts, and some still do, ususally for religious reasons. Nuns ski in their habits, of course.

Part of why I like dressing vintage is the number of ways I get to wear skirts. People are always surprised by how many things I can do in a skirt - and look cute while doing it!

On my home computer I have an 1860s photo of a group of mountaineers, five or six men and a woman, climbing a glacier in Switzerland. Not only is the woman in a skirt, she's wearing a crinoline as well!
