SOLD Late 50s-early 60s Black Silk Velvet Cocktail Dress

This is a stunning velvet cocktail dress. The designer is Gigi Young, which was a sister company to Suzy Perette. http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/...section,6/cat,59/task,view/id,229/Itemid,100/

This dress is in very good vintage condition. It has a couple trouble spots. Under one arm it has been repaired (not by me) but it doesn’t show when you have the dress on. It also has one loose seam around the bust area that could easily be repaired. It has a metal zipper up the back.

Do you think there is any give to the hips? It's a gorgeaous dress.

I'll check it when I get home. I don't think it's got any stretch to it, but I'll double check my measurements.

Shirt, I remeasured, and I keep getting 20" across the hip, maybe 20.5 a little lower. And it doesn't feel like there's any give to the fabric.

I've never been able to take off 5" with a girdle (2-3" yes). boohoo me. I think I am forever destined to be a full skirt gal. My hips are such that the proportion of wiggles never quite work.

My waist could possibly fit corseted.. but the rest of me is still to big!
