Ignacio won’t do anything bad to this hat, just make sure the sweat isn’t going to come off.

Just to clarify. I meant no disrespect to Iggy whatsoever!! I have tremendous respect for his skills. I envy being able to have such a hat magician available to do all that he does. I think many here do as well.
I have no doubt he would blush at changing the originallity of this hat.
I’m sure he will spruce her up to the tens as always.

So, SB seems to be "the color" for the 7X CB. I have seen very few vintage OR/7X Stetsons in anything else. Are there any around that are not SB or Black? Just wondering.

I have seen a handful. Two I have seen were made is retirement gifts for Stetson employees. One gray Fedora sold for either $300 or so on Goodwill about 18 months ago.

I lost out on it ;)

I can not answer this question with total certainty, but assuming the Stetson One Hundreds and Beaver 100s are “clear beaver”, here are a couple pics of One Hundreds not in SB.
Also of note: somewhere on the lounge there is a picture of a “Stack of Hundreds” in several different colors. I couldn’t find the pic. Yet. Think it may be Carouselvic or Rlk’s. Not sure.
Hope others weighin on this because it is an interesting topic.

Here a link to a thread that discusses clear beaver quality and clear beaver being non tinted or tinted

It's interesting to reread that old thread. There seems to have been very little or no documented definition of "clear" felt back in 2007 or the years since. From my observation, "Beaver Quality" in Stetson Hats made in the 1930s and earlier are exceedingly rare. 3x beaver quality shows up on occasion, 5x and 7x clear beaver quality almost never. Clear nutria and real nutria quality represent the markings on most 1930s and earlier higher end Stetsons that appear on the vintage market. Beginning about 1940, the beaver makes a reappearance and after the war 3X and 4x beaver and 7x clear beaver quality must have been widely sold. 1950s and later examples show up with regularity in our eBay searches, along with the lesser Nutria quality.

The thread above seems to discuss early 20th century and mid 20th century hats in the same breath when in fact there was a world of change in the middle that separates these hats (which might have the same or similar grade names) in terms of their characteristics and qualities.

Anxiously awaiting what may be the last hat I buy, sellers photos above of the beautiful 7X currently enroute to SoCal. Paid a premium, but looking at the condition I’m not sure I’d ever find another this well maintained. Plus this ticks almost every box I was hoping to check (50’s, 7XCB, ‘Last Drop’, OR specs) just missing the OR designation. Happy compromise though because I’ve yet to see a 50’s 7X OR with the Last Drop liner, only Westerns. Will post ‘action shots’ when it arrives.

Edited a few times to finally get the pics up.
