A cheap Stetson 2X wool hat. I managed to trim 1 1/2 inches from the brim and used sandpaper to smooth out the edges.

That 'Regatta' is sure close the the 'Privateer'. Is that some stitching around the brim edge? That would be the only difference I can see.

Gotta say, it's not clear to me whether it's quartz or not. The mechanism is contained in a small black plastic box. Insert a AA battery, and it's good to go. Whether this means that it's quartz, mini-quartz, mechanical -- just don't know. [huh]
