Ran "Stetson".
Several pages of hits. None focused on the subject of the "X"s. Gave up reading after wading through the first half dozen multi-page "Stetson" threads.

"Stetson X" ?? Not much luck.

I always thought it referred to the percentage of alcohol in the felt.
