Hello everyone! I saw a pair of jeans form Tanuki that caught my attention. Since I don't know much about the brand I would like to hear your experience and knowledge about it if anyone has a pair of jeans. Any insight could be helpful. Thank you very much for your help

I have couple of pairs of Tanuki back from 2018 when I got into denim and couple of indigo t-shirts which I consider the best among those I have (they are heavy and very formshaping). Very decent quality and makes. Still wearing them. There was a period when they experimented with various dying processes like acid, persimmon etc but it was too much for me. Overall good cuts, comfortable in high taper, still wearing them despite the trends. I believe they are somehow might be connected to Oni Denim as their supplies arrive to the online shops simultaneously. Sometimes they do collabs between them.

I have Tanuki Yoroi 25-oz indigo canvas baker's/utility pants. Built like little tanks, I like them and put them on more often than many from my closet.

Then you think Tanuki is a good brand? Since Is not that popular like momotaro, samurai jeans, Oni, etc. It's kinda difficult find information

On the very limited sample of one, I think it is a good brand. But you should ask on other forums, reddit, etc, where denimheads hang out, as jchance pointed out before he deleted his post...;).

I’ve been a denimhead for 15 years. I’ve tried RRL, N&F, Klaxon Howl, Sunny Sports, PBJ, SDA, Momotaro, and Soso. I haven’t had direct experience with Tanuki but I’ve heard of them. They make a nice shawl collar corduroy jacket that I like, but their price point is a bit high for the fabric in question. I wouldn’t hesitate to try Tanuki if their denim interests me.

To me, denim is a cheaper buy than leather jackets, and they last for quite some time, too. It’s hard to mess up a pair of Japanese-made denim from vintage shuttle looms. Usually, the crotch would blow out before the stitching or construction, so I wouldn’t worry about its craftsmanship. I would prob retire my pair by then.

I have been more fascinated by indigo-dyed heavy canvas fabric than denim fabric. Fades differently than denim, but admittedly is not everyone's cup of tea. I found Tanuki through that search. Heavy indigo-dyed canvas was rare enough for me to splurge on Tanuki Yoroi. I probably would not spend the big bucks on Tanuki denim having all the other options available. Not so with canvas.
