Eulan Bayer tag...

Question: can the eulan bayer tag be used to date a Borsalino?

Whip-stitch brim edging like the Como just under 2-1/4 in the front,2-1/8+ around the rest. This is unusual(slightly)having a reeded sweatband and a taped rear seam. One of the earliest hats with the date code round cornered factory stamp--1976. Nice satin long-hair finish and box bow.

Borsalino Marca Renna

I picked up this old Borsalino a few weeks back and it arrived in a rather crumpled state. One thing about Borsalinos though - they are no trouble to put back into shape. I've not heard of the "Marca Renna" model before but it is not dissimilar from my 'Super Borsalino' in terms of style and quality (except this one's brim is slightly wider). It was originally sold in Rome.
Brim: 2 1/4" unbound
Crown: 5-1/2" open (4-1/2" with the teardrop)
Ribbon: 1 3/8"
Sweatband: 1-1/2"
Colour: "Amiata" according to the tag under the sweat (a grey with green hues)
Retailer: via 4 Novembre 157/B (Magnanapoli)

Film by Borsalino

Will one of the Brotherhood kindly direct me to posts describing Film by Borsalino.
From what I have read, this model is new for 2010 and copying the style worn by a movie star who began to make it famous.
Thanks!

A friend of mine just bought one from Bencraft. Very nice one I think inspired by alain delon's hat from le Samurai ( I could be wrong here) You could PM Besdor. He owns Bencraft hats.

Borsalino Porkpie

Very low profile, exported for French market. Taped sweat, remnants of oilskin liner cover.

Just won my first REAL hat - not a bad deal for $59.00 shipped. I should be receiving is sometime by this weeks end. Here is a pic from the auction.

Well, I paid for it on Feb 1st and still no hat. The seller said due to snow, there was a delay; however, she was able to send it out on the 11th. Now a week after that still no hat. What a bummer :(

I knew the deal was too good to be true.

This Borsalino belonged to my friend's great-grandfather. It was very dirty and well-worn from work in the vineyards (California), so I've cleaned it up for him to present to his father. Didn't re-block it, as it had a very worn-in crease that he prefers to keep.

The interesting thing to me is the size tag (black and green embossed thin paper) and the blocking label:
