Thought it might be time to dust off this thread -- it's been a while. Man, there are some great lids here.

Here is a Stetson 3X that just arrived this week in mint, open-crown condition. This one has a western-style thin ribbon and is a beautiful ivory color. I love the feel of this felt -- substantial and smooth. The liner features the embroidered "Last Drop from His Stetson" scene.

Welcome, Ken. Nice Campdraft. Have you decided about the Fed Deluxe IV? Those Akubras are pretty darn nice hats, I think.

I'll have to post some photos of my good 'ole Light Sand (aka Akubra Silverbelly) Campdraft, which has been refined and reworked bit by bit since the last time the Lounge saw it.

Speaking of Campdrafts, Hats Direct tells me that they'll be putting an order in Friday for December delivery of any custom sizes/colors, and I'm very tempted to get an order in for a second Campdraft (I have long since decided that the classic Open Road style hat best suits me, being a perfect hat for my home of Fort Worth). I'll have to wait on a custom order anyway, as Hats Direct plans to stock size 63 but that'll be as part of the same order anyway. The question becomes: of the colors the Campdraft is available in, I am debating about going with Taupe Fawn vs. the mythic Bluegrass Green. I'd love some thoughts/opinions on the matter from other thin ribbon aficionados.

Well, after debating with myself on the merits of Taupe Fawn vs. Bluegrass Green, I made my decision. Reasoning that Taupe Fawn isn't all that far away from the Light Sand/Silverbelly of my current Campdraft, I decided to do it. Yes, ladies and gents, I am ordering the mythological Bluegrass Green Campdraft. It will be a while yet before it gets here, but thought you all would like to know. I shall be the pioneer, surveying the mysterious wilds of Bluegrass Green for my fellow thin ribbon enthusiasts.

They say this order will be for December delivery - sigh. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

AG, I've seen a bluegrass green Stylemaster here on the lounge somewhere. It's a pretty good looking color.

Oh, well, AG. Easy come, easy go. I would have liked to see a Campdraft that color though. Maybe you can find something similar?

I've noticed that when you see silverbelly associated with Akubra hats there is usually (sand) in parentheses right behind the silverbelly. The color is closer to Art's sand color than his silverbelly, but it's still a nice looking hat. And it gives me another light color to add to my hat stash.
