Ah, BTW, I learnt there that actually Mary Austin ain't pocketing the auction proceeds, and they will actually be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
I found that to be quite symbolic, honestly. She kept all his belongings for more than 30 years, keeping them in neat condition. Now, that she probably knows that her life is nearing its end (or maybe not, who knows...), and that whoever would inherit it would maybe move it anyways, she'll be auctioning it starting the day after what would've been his 77th birthday (any 7 symbolism?), but first giving the fans a chance to see it all for free (apparently there were other exhibits in NYC, LA, and HK before), and then donating the proceeds to a cause he would've supported himself. I praise that effort!
