It’s funny when we generalize certain styles to decades and the reasonable refrain goes out. “It’s not like exactly 1960 the brims and Crown got shorter overnight”. This ad kinda says… “it’s 1960 and you will buy a short brim hat and you will like it!”

My new Lords hat. 6 inch open crown, 2 inch brim, 2 inch ribbon. It has a Cavanagh edge but, as it is part of the brim curl, it is well hidden from view. I'm still smoothing out the old felt creases, so I'll have some head shots in a few days. There is some handwritten script on the inside of the sweatband that looks original, and the reorder tag is intact but folded over on itself, but the sweat is to the point I'm not willing to risk damage, so those pictures will have to wait!

The spousal unit did OK last weekend, finding herself this killer Dobbs Panama with a 3" brim. Good eye.

With just some brushing and popping the crown out with my fingers (and I plucked off the feathers!):
Steam and working the inside of the crown, through the liner, with my fingers. No tools, just steam and my fingers:
The curl came back 90% on its own and some steam shaping did the rest.

The felt on this hat is shockingly good. The 4 horseshoe rating doesn’t sound impressive, but it’s as nice as some of the pure beaver felt I’ve handled…and even better than some.
