Ok, here is a thread for the Dobbs connoisseurs out there.

I just got this one on OFAS. It's a Dobbs Fifth Avenue. It's another one touted as a bowler derby.

    You stole that one

I have owned several Dobbs that were dead ringers for that one. You should be quite happy. I think you will really like the quality. The brim on others I have seen that do resemble this one have been something more on the order of 2 7/16". Eyeballing the photo I get the impression that this brim may be wider than the 2 1/4" stated in the auction copy. I believe you have a guild edge there too. Well done!
Post some pix when it arrives, eh?

Oh boy, my Dobbs collection is second only to my Stetson collection. Here are my two favorites, though. One is a brown Homburg that was sold by Higbee's in Cleveland, of "A Christmas Story fame:

I loved the color combination of my Dobbs Homburg so much, I started looking for a fedora to match. This one came along, and it's probably the fedora I wear the most:

This one has had the sweatband replaced at some point along the line, and some kind of waterproof strip added behind the sweat. The replacement sweat seems of very high quality, so I'm guessing it was done a long time ago. Here are the detail shots, click on the thumbnails for the big picture:

^Douglas, is that Cross Country vented in the top? I assume it has no liner. I love that 'Fifteen'.

    Blue Dobbs Jolly Rounder...

I love the color of this hat, but you'll note the faded ring around the crown, which fits exactly the cardboard form it sat in for decades. I feel pretty sure it was the acid in the cardboard that bleached out the color.

Yeah, I couldn't let that one slide dude.....especially with our hat size, it's tough to find decent hats. So you were the lonely culprit eh? :D

  19. That is a great one for a singular example in your collection. :eusa_clap

  20. So that's the Jolly Rounder. I have an ad for that hat around here somewhere. Always wanted to see one in person. Looks pretty good to me. :D
