Last weekend I visited the U-505 in Chicago finally. It's been there all my life and I never took the time to appreciate her and tour her inner belly. While I was not permitted to take flash photography inside the sub, some of the outside pics didn't run out too poorly.

Here are the pics I promised from another thread...

Hope you enjoy...

As a memorabilia collector, I've always been looking for one of these paperweights made from the original ballast from inside the U505.

And off to the air gallery!

Got to love the MKI Spitfire. This was an actual BoB-used machine. It gives me chills. I stared at this baby for about half an hour until my friend urged me to finally go!

Dixie,
It's in the Museum of science and industry. I was there 3 or 4 times as a kid.

Make sure your wife or significant other is very tolerant. This sub is amazing. I've been through it twice and have modeled one very similar, with cutaway compartments, lit up. (The Revell 1/72 kit and the Eduard mini-kits for the compartments). And of course, the replica Kapitan's uniform.
Anyway, be sure and catch the Stuka too-one of only two left in the world!
