I apologise for such a pointless thread but when a hat is this good it needs to be mentioned... maybe to some it won't seem so great because i'm looking at it in context of a mate whose off kilter style it'd suit perfectly (sadly it's above his budget), but seriously, great hat, courtesy of more evening time browsing the fedora store

Interesting ribbon treatment. Reminds me of a straw hat's ribbon. Speaking of which, I swear one could use a neck tie as a ribbon for a straw hat if one knew how to wrap it properly.

The tie would have to be pretty long though. Long enough to make it about 3 times around the hat for a proper ribbon I think.

I once bought a straw hat at a flea market from a lady and her son (who claimed he was "ska" - more like "pshaw") who had dozens of old mostly crappy straws that they put tie bands on. Yes, they dumped the original bands and replaced them with ties. And, for a touch of class, the pointy tip of the small end of the tie was snipped off and velcroed on to the band just about where you'd puit your feather if you had some achievment you wished to celebrate.
