To Feather or Not to Feather?

This feather came with a modern Resistol that I picked up at auction. Appears to have been part of a promotional fundraiser. I'll probably keep it for patriotic holidays...

In the last year the family has turned into bird people. We have two budgies one standard one English cross, one Cockatiel and a Indian Ringneck. So when they loose feathers my kids add them to my hats. Half the time I don’t notice. So I guess I am not a feather in my hat kind of a guy.

I never understood the enthusiasm for feathers, but last week l ordered my first custom fedora and was talked into getting a feather with it. I am glad they talked me into it because it is such a great looking hat that it would have been wrong not to have a feather. It is the first time in my life l have ever understood how a feather elevates the stylishness of a fedora. None of those rtw models look good with a feather imo, but the locally made custom one will look amazing.

Feathers add a fine "Dandy" style to your outfit, depending on what type you are it could look fitting or slightly over the top.

I'm in the "Not to Feather" camp. As best as I can remember years ago I received a fedora that had a feather tucked into the ribbon, and I liked it enough to leave it alone. But, for the most part, I just don't like that kind of ornamentation on my hats.

A few of my hats seem to yearn for a tasteful feather, but not many. Somehow the natural colored felts seem to need a bit of color added to them

Generally I walk around Sans-feather, but I do have a few hats that have them.

I HAD one more... but Mr Bear took a liking, grabbed it off this mornings Hemp Stratoliner and went running around the yard with it... I got it back but it was a bit scrunched up

I have feathers in about 1/2 of my hats. I really like them on certain hats. I have a hard time separating them if it came with it. I tend to like smaller and simpler feathers. But some larger ones look nice, especially on western hats.
