Traditional Buckle Cinch-Back DIY - Any tips?

Hi friends, due to losing some weight (and just my natural body proportions, off-the-rack pants always seem to be pretty snug in the seat but loose in the waist for me) it seems that most of my jeans and pants need a belt, though I don't always love the look or the hassle of a belt. I've tried to find some guides online for making a traditional cinch-back with a buckle, but the ones I've found aren't very detailed or seem to skip a lot of the steps that they consider to be "basic."

Has anyone added cinch-backs themselves? Does anyone have a go-to guide or tips on what I'd need to DIY some cinch-backs to my jeans? I have plenty of off-cuts from the same denim due to hemming, and I've found where I can buy buckles and gold/indigo thread.

My apologies if this has already been discussed at-length in another thread, I looked through the guides and didn't see anything.

Never done my own as I have a few pairs of vintage Levi's Jeans that came with a cinch back I like them also as they have the buttons for braces, I won't say suspenders as it means a different thing in Europe haha the only thing here that are suspenders are used for is stockings :p
