Trimming Milan Brims

Hello... I have a hard time searching through the MOUNDS of posts on the site, so I figured I'd post on a separate thread. My apologies if this topic is duplicated.

Being hit with so much snow, I decided to do some browsing at spring and summer fedoras. What I've noticed is that it's hard to find a decent looking Milan straw hat in a stingy brim. I know they sell brim cutters that can be used on felt hat brims, but what about straw. Will the same cutter work on a milan brim, or will it fray the straw?

FWIW, I too have been interested in the Milans...

Getting a milan of Graham's (Optimo). I asked if he simply forms already made milan bodies and if he can reduce the brim size.

He said he can and does that work as well.

As a perfectionist and very much do-it-yourself fellow, honestly, I'd let the experienced craftsman do this one.

Best of luck
