Unscientific observation of Hats yesterday

Went to my annual Birthday party yesterday, the town throws it for me every year http://www.saturdayinthepark.com/ There were more wide brims than I've seen in the past 17 years of these things. Still about 50% ball caps. Quite a few Tilley style ragtops. Many cowboys hats when Dickie Betts was on stage. Too many golf hats, like my newly aquired Chi Chi hat... and I noticed a lot of young guys in stingy brims. I'm glad I chose to wear my new Mombasa styled real Panama hat from Equador (nicest hat in the crowd.

All in all, it was quite a hat day.

On passing through the walkway in the crowd, a lil guy at the park yesterday stopped me and asked, "Do I know you? To which, I politely replied, I don't think so." So I walked on (not wanting someone to think I'm a ****phyle) and I hear, "You look like my Grandpa." heheheh

I hope it was just the hat. hahahahahahahh :D

The one thing I guess that I noticed the most...

The wider the brim... the older and wiser the gentleman with sensibility was under the lid.

And hey...

It's been pointed out to me that there's some FISHY stuff going on round here to boycott my postings.

I do have a tendancy to start controversial threads. It's generally my intent to get the ball rolling. Same here... nuthin new...

Just lookin for your observations of outdoor summer events.

This is news to me and I am always hangin' around the place. Please elaborate on this statement.

The more likely scenario is people do not care to contribute to controversial threads. No conspiracy there.

Just hopin this is worth a bump. THe air has been cleared.

While there's always more hats seen in summer, What kind of hats are you guys seeing? Wider brims or mainly ballcaps?

High number of stingy brimmed trilbys round these parts. Combination of them being plentiful/reasonably cheap (a decent enough hat in cotton can be had for the price of a good baseball cap), and being sported in recent years by the likes of Pete Doherty. Sad world where Doherty's a fashion icon, but still his look - or at least a non-junkie, less dishevilled version thereof - is a fair bit classier than most of what passes for fashion these days.

Maybe I simply never paid enough attention before, but I've been out at Disney World three or four times so far this summer and I do specifically notice a lot more hats than I used to (and a lot fewer ball caps). A lot "safari" looking hats, australian hats, and tons of Panamas and straws (though only a few noted as nicer Montecrisiti's).
People getting wiser about sun protection, I suppose. :eusa_clap

Thanks for that and the hyperlink to the history of BB King - one of my faves!

BB was great that day. He sits down to play these days, but that old boy can still play. Dickie Betts was great too, especially for those of us raised on that Allman Brothers sound.
