Vanson Comet vs Model B size advise

Hi. If a new Comet feels tight, too small. Couldn't reach the pockets. But maybe after a lot of working in, then probably okay.
Will that feeling be the same in a model B with the same size ? Are the sleeves pretty much the same?(length, cuff opening.)

Thurston Brothers sells a 3" longer version of the Comet, if that's to your liking. What are your dimensions & what are other good fitting jackets on you?

Honestly the Comet & Model B are very different jackets, and being over 6' 1" tall myself, the standard model Comet is simply too short for me. It rides about 1.5 - 2" above my belt and I have a standard, not overly long torso.

Ideally, go visit Vanson and try out some in-person. Nothing compares to hands-on.

Tried a new Comet 46, too tight, couldn't reach the pockets. The model B has a bit more ease and Bi swing, so maybe that would be enough to make size 46 work. Not 100% sure what model I`ll go for, but with the Comet I know what I get, and that 46 is just a bit small. Live in Europe, found a Comet I could test for a reasonable price, but not a model B. And being 5`10, sleeves needs to be shortened. Don't want to spend too much on parcels back and forth. I`ll see what Carrie has to say about this, before deciding.

I have worked with Carrie on several jackets, and she knows how to fit you for either model. I would certainly recommend reaching out to her.

I bought a Comet, picked it up at the post office and tried it on late that night at the house. In the dark it seemed to fit, mostly.

I tried it on the next day in the light and boom... back in the box and a no-go for me.

I bought a B since and wear it all the time. Much more comfortable fit and (for me) it's not oddly oddly short in the same way that the Comet was.

I guess both were same size. Would you think I could reach the chest pocket in a model B, if I could almost reach them in the Comet? Same size of course.
Or how much more room would you say the model B has in the arm, chest, shoulder area? 1%, 5%, 10%. Thanks.

I don't recall having spent much time pondering interior pocket placement on the Comet but absent the comparison aspect I can reach the R/H inside ****** pocket on the B reasonably easily... but that may depend on how tight your shoulders normally are. There is no L/H inside pocket on my B.

My memory is not objectively reliable comparing the B that I've now worn plenty with a Comet that I had very briefly a year or so ago. The B does seem to be more comfortable to move around in and the aspect that was more important to me was that I'm not a short jacket guy so I needed a jacket properly proportioned to my eye and trouser rise. If there were an aspect to the B that I don't recall having w/ the Comet it is that the B has ridden up a few times at the back of my neck something like a buffalo hump. Easy enough to rectify by yanking the tail of the jacket downward and it may be that the B needs a little more wear time to drape properly as it is a thick comp weight jacket. It also possible that I may be outside the dimension of the jacket's target wearer as I'm slightly dimensionally unusual. If it helps my dims are:
5' 10"
220-230 #
33" waist
19" neck
34/35" sleeve
And yes, my lineage is not long out of the trees.
I sometimes wonder if the B might have a slight arm hole rotation intended for a bike that may cause the occasional hump but tailoring and cut questions are beyond me. Hope that helps.
