I never ever wanted to do this....but I’ve recently made a commitment to wear my jackets and get my monies worth. I want to downsize and focus on having just a few pairs of boots and a few jackets. 2-3 of each. Unfortunately this one just doesn’t get worn. As you can see it’s a Vanson E(?) type. In terms of leather it’s one of my absolute favorites. It’s the classic CW. It’s fully broken in and worn, someone before me gave it a full life. It’s thick and toughs as hell but fully broken in as I say. Has some spots of wear and patina but still another lifetime left in it. It gives and drapes, while still being able to feel its heft. If you ride this will take a spill like none other. If not, you may survive a knife fight in this. It’s tagged a 38. Measurements are as follows (approximate) inches PTP-21 Back-22 Sleeve-24 Shoulders-just a single hair under 18 it’s slightly baggy on me and I’m 5’7 135lbs. I bought it to wear a sweater/hoodie under and when I do it looks great. I just have no use for it. I have 2 nice summer/spring jackets and if I want to wear leather in fall/winter I have a no name beater with a super warm zip-out liner. This is a perfect example of what a Vanson could and should be. No fancy stitching but stitched tight and right. Leather that was most likely a beast at first but now lays perfect; and a classic design. With in tact liner, all zips work and built to last. More pictures upon request. Asking 300, price and shipping negotiable. I think @Monitor will shed a tear seeing this one listed haha
I am shedding a tear for not being able to buy it! Dan, you outta revise that P2P width, which I am absolutely sure will come out at 21.5" to 22" if you measure the jacket's armpits stretched, seam to seam. Vanson oversizes worse than Schott and I could wear a 38 even when I was 20 lbs heavier. This'd fit anyone wearing a sz. 40 for sure.
You’re right of course. I didn’t have it stretched as much as I thought. About 21. I’ll update. Good eye.
@Monitor thats what I get for measuring all day. Have a few more to post at some point. At a certain point you just blindly measure away without thinking. But this one deserves love. It’s literally the classic competition weight that was once armor and breaks down to the softest best drape but still thick and tough as nails. If it had a liner for winter or the PTP was closer to 18 I’d never part with it.
My favorite Model B was a 38 and I wore it over layers back when I was in Canada and Model B is supposedly trimmer than this bad boi. Either way, someone's getting the meanest jacket Vanson's ever made. No wonder Fine Creek repro'd this exact model! Only in Vanson's ACTUAL old school hide they ain't gonna bring back ever again. I know the stuff. Naked cow, soft but mega-thick and very natural feeling. At least 1 oz thicker than LW. Possibly the best they've ever used. Hell, now I wanna buy it...
Oh, and that's a much rarer, sleeker, cooler C2, not it's more common and baggier cousin E. https://vansonleathers.com/mens-lea.../16-model-C2-brando-style-biker-jacket-C.html
@dannyk, That was probably THE BEST Vanson I have ever seen. Hopefully it went to a lounger so we can still see pics once in awhile.
It did go to a lounger!! And I considered asking way more. I know no one would pay it. But it’s like the perfect cross zip. Should the lounger who bought it choose to show it off...you’ll see. It’s literally the perfect minimalist design, with the best leather. The leather that like I said starts off feeling just like armor:bullet proof but then breaks down into the softest, most supple thing. You wouldn’t believe it’s the same leather. But it’s also like 3.5ozs so still heavy as hell and still capable of serious protection. I wanted to ask like 500 and that wouldn’t be out of the question. Except it’s like a 20 year old Vanson and no one would believe it, until they see it in person. I’m glad it went to TFL where it will get some love and hopefully some pictures.
I love it! Def heavy but soft. Something that only wear and time can achieve. This beauty will outlast me. It’s hard for me to find short jackets because even tho I’m 6’2” I wear high waisted wranglers. I see the newer slim fit models come longer and longer, sometimes 25-26.5” back length and i love the designs but when I try them I feel like it doesn’t work for me.. This vintage one is sick! ^-^ Thanks again @dannyk
That’s what I’m saying. It’s so hard to find one that heavy but also so soft. Just a lot of wear and time can make that happen.
