For years, where I worked overlooked (at an angle) the Knickerbocker Hotel at 42nd and Broadway (the Grill has sadly long since closed). This is how it pretty much looks today:

It's a gorgeous building despite being a bit muddled by the obnoxious retail stores it now houses at street level.

One of our conference rooms had a very good view of the Knickerbocker (the building I worked in was a brand new "all" glass tower - so it had incredibly open views) and I you could quickly tell who did and didn't like old architecture just by casually saying, before a meeting started - "hey, that's a great old looking building."

It’s still a beautiful building. I usually do a ‘Walter Mitty” when I see
something which I enjoy and block everything else out.
I learned this during combat and later working the News.
I don't kid myself about reality...it's always there but I just
won’t let it get to me if I can help it.

That same office I worked in also looked out on this beauty:

The Bush Tower (built in 1918):

And now sandwiched between to glass buildings:

What I couldn't find is a close up of the top - the recessed part you see in the two first pics. You can't tell from those pics, but it is very cathedral like in its architecture - beautifully done and pretty elaborate. Reminds me of the style and idea of the office tower in the movie "Executive Suite."
