Be carful the fisrt time you wash anything vintage. I just found out the hard way. I was wahing a pair of vintage hunting pants and I didn't realise they had a lining in the knee section. It was burgandy colored, needless to say it ran everywhere even on my brand new Ghurka pants. The wash is on cycle 4 to try and get the color off the khakis but I have learned a valuable (and expensive) lesson. Inspect them, completely.
