Folks,

I know we've been through this a bit before, but I haven't found a dry cleaner that I 'trust' with vintage clothes. My ties are sacred in my wardrobe...and there is one tie in particular that I want to wear soon and I just haven't had cleaned. Has anyone ever hand cleaned a vintage tie in Woolite? If so, what are the pros and cons?

FG.

The best solution I know for cleaning a vintage silk tie was shown to me b Mrs. MK. I was a Barbecue in their backyard when I dripped some grease on a 194's silk tie that I consider very precious. She brought out a shout stain stick and after using that and dabbing the tie after wetting the grease was out.

It works with stains that have dried as well... I've also tried this with new ties that have old stains. That's all I can say about ties and stains.
