I thought that I should share my latest akubra experience with loungers. this year I bought for working wear an Akubra fed and an akbra traveller, into which hats direct kindly put vent holes. Last week I had to take off the traveller for some reason and then I had to leave where I was. I got back two days later to find that my hat ,brim side up had filled with rain water as far as the vent holes. it had two days soaking .I thought it was ruined but hung it up to dry.amazingly the hat is perfect, maybe a little shrunk vertically but otherwise unharmed.Akubras are great hats for the everyday rough and tumble of life.

I wasn't really familiar with the Traveller so I had a look. Nice shape, although I don't think I could wear a tapered crown now. My sister saw me wearing an old tapered hat after seeing me in my fed for weeks. She said the old hat looked "weird and too sloped". lol

I guess a hat that has taper from the start is more resistent to the tapering effects of water, simply because an increase in taper is perhaps less noticeable than the appearance of taper where there previously was none. Did that make sense?

Anyway, good story, and reassuring for those of us who are still occasionally guilty of babying out Akubras.
