Ok i need some help. My daughter who finished her Residency in Psyc at Baylor, now Attending Staff, is coming in from Houston for a wedding. I’m having a hat identity moment thats been going on forever. I want to go western ala Houston. So what do you think??
Clear Nutria Boss with a 30 second kinda cattleman or the black No.1 Kettle curl with kicks??
Let me know.
B
Casual, summer in Houston, the Clear Nutria. I'll take the Black one off your hands, though.:p
Congrats to your daughter too.

1950's - 1960's era Stetson 4X.

Brick & a mule kick.

3-3/8" brim with green 6-cord ribbon, 6-1/4" open crown. Last Drop stencil with plastic protector in liner.

After drying overnight the brim has a slight wave to be smoothed out. The slight cup in the flange will stay.

My daughter made a beaded hat band for me. She has been doing bead work for several years, but this is her first hat band. I had been wanting one for this hat. I chose the pattern, and we went to a bead shop, where I chose the colors of beads. Most of them are not shiny. She brought me the band yesterday. She spent a couple of hours last night, fitting it to the hat, making sure there were no breaks in the pattern where the ends joined. She made Dad happy!

That is really looking good! Very crisp crease, I like it! I like the flanged brims of older western hats.

Porter's 1940 - 1961

Joe Porter was a Texas saddlemaker who moved to Arizona in 1940. He opened a saddle shop with Western wear clothing downstairs, in downtown Phoenix. As the need for saddles declined Western wear clothing took over. He closed his Phoenix store in 1961.

You said bro! Coming from my daughter, knowing the time she put into it, makes it priceless to me.

Thanks Bob, I'll give her a break, she is working on some bracelets right now. She is thinking of trying to sell some of her work online.
Man oh man! That is beautiful (my wife concurs)!

How many more have you commissioned? :)
