I only paid $9.67 including shipping but these Bailey U-Rollit just don’t show up very often. I love the cool cowboy dude stuff I grew up with.(my wife thinks I’m a junk hoarder)

Oh well see if I can save it

First: Whoever shipped a hat in a poly shipping bag should be publicly stoned to death...or at least grounded for a week.

Those U-Rollit hats can be nice, and yours looks to be from the period where they made a good straw hat. Good luck with the repairs.

WTF??!! Who ships a hat like that?? It looks like it had a cool shape to start with. I sure hope you can do something with it.

A boy raised in NYC, wearing a Mexican Hat, and a Guatemalan shirt, barefoot on a Hawaiian beach? You can call me anything you want.

That looks like a huge upsidedown dead spider behind you, Jonesy. And a dinosaur femur, too. You sure you're not on Skull Island?

Yeah Doc, lots of strange things wash up on shore after a storm. However, that is just a big piece of driftwood.

DO termites eat hats? I thought supertermites were your real creatures to be aware of.

  17. This is what I have in mind for this Akubra Territory, but with a wider ribbon. And I've never done a ribbon before.

What color and how wide? I think that will be a good choice for the look you're going for. Bond has made up 3 or 4 bows and ribbons for me, including the wide gold one on my Nutria Quality. Not expensive and worth it to not have to source ribbon and fret over the curl on a WAR.

  19. It's a 4x6 so I'm thinking 1-3/4" which will come up just below the two factory grommets & cover the small one someone else added. The hat is Taupe Fawn or Fawn (not sure which) so I'm thinking Taupe for the ribbon color. Don't want chocolate or black.

Thanks for the tip on Scott. I never thought of having one made up without having to ship the hat off.

    Re tunnel pic.
Hope it isn't against the rules to post this here.
A similar tunnel runs under the Solent - the stretch of the English Chanel between Warsash area (Southampton) and the Isle of Wight. The tunnel houses the power cable to the Island and engineers walk the cable length to inspect it. As mentioned earlier, locations like that are a daunting experience and spooky to boot.

I used to shoot with one of the engineers who was doing the walk and a couple of the others confirmed this.

During a check all hell broke out towards the back of the gang, shouting and panic with some of the guys grappling. A young lad at the end of the gang had slipped on a monster mask and grabbed the shoulder of the guy in front while emitting a groaning wail. Chap in front panicked and laid into 'monster' with dirty great Maglite. When all calmed down they carried the unconscious lad back to start and called the bosses.

Such high spirits are no longer allowed.
