As an audiophile, Waltz for Debby is one of my absolute favorite albums to get into when I have the house to myself. Partly because it was recorded brilliantly, and partly because Scott LaFaro was such an amazing bassist. What a terrible loss, that he died so young. Enjoy
That was the album I was listening to! I have enjoyed Bill Evans for some time now, but the way we consume music these days, it’s easy to chuck on some Bill Evans (or whoever) without knowing exactly what you’re listening to. I’m guilty of that at times, but today I looked around for something I really wanted to hear and that’s what I came up with. Loved it.
I got into jazz through a completely random purchase of another of Miles Davis’ pianists - Wynton Kelly. I still love that first purchase - love his bluesy style.

Wynton Kelly, another one of the best. He worked with a lot of great bands. Also died too young.
